2024 Classes & Events

2024 Sheetmetal Apprentice Class Schedule

2023-2024 classes are wrapping up for the year. Please stay tuned for 2024-2025 class schedule.

First Year

First year Sheet metal classes focus on proper equipment use, hand tools, basic fabrication techniques, parallel line development, introduction to HVAC systems and jobsite safety. Shielded Metal Arc Welding, oxy/acetylene cutting and plasma torches.

Second Year

Second year classes move into advanced fabrication and layout techniques. Triangulation for layout. Computer drafting is introduced, Fire Life Safety, HVAC system installation. GAS Metal Arc Welding and Flux Core Arc Welding with steel, galvanized, Stainless steel and aluminum.

Third Year

Focus on field installation techniques. Offset calculations, Seismic bracing along with measuring, sketching and ordering. Radial line development for advanced fabrication. Construction software CNC cutting systems. Gas Tungsten Arc welding for aluminum plus Introduction to aluminum Laser
welding.

Fourth Year

Airflow in ducts, velocities, CFM, static pressures. Testing Adjusting and Balancing classes. Load calculations BTU’s and heat loss/gain in buildings. Mechanical Codes. Energy efficiency. Auto CAD for duct systems and intro to Revit. Gas tungsten Arc welding for Stainless Steel. Finish grinding. SS in Laser welding.

2024 HVAC-R Apprentice Class Schedule

2023-2024 classes are wrapping up for the year. Please stay tuned for 2024-2025 class schedule.

First Year

Safety, Basic electrical & components. Troubleshooting. Preventative maintenance. Heating & gas burners. Wiring diagrams. Customer relations. Intro to refrigeration.

Second Year

Combustion analysis, Boilers & Furnaces, Hydronic heat, pneumatics, Refrigeration consisting of theory, compressors, metering devices, evaporators, refrigerants & oils. Soldering and brazing, evacuation. Leak testing and charging methods.

Third Year

Advanced cooling, commercial refrigeration, electric heat systems, Geothermal, Pump fundamentals, Air flow, rotational speed, fan laws. Variable Refrigerant Flow. Psychometrics & load calculations

Fourth Year

Advanced electrical diagrams and troubleshooting. Testing Adjusting and Balancing. Rack refrigeration and A/C wiring. Direct Digital Controls, system efficiency and variable frequency drives. Chillers and cooling towers. Variable Air Volume systems.
