The Alaska Southcentral/Southeastern Sheet Metal Workers Local Union 23 Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee, or Alaska Metal and Mechanical Apprenticeship, is looking for an experienced Office Assistant to work in a fast-growing Union Sheet Metal Trade School. We train in welding, custom fabrication and HVAC-R service work.

Duties
- Answer phones and provide general administrative support
- Maintain licenses, insurance, and certifications
- Keep student files up to date
- Prepare reports on student progress
- Enter student grades on tests and quizzes into spreadsheets
- Print and organize study guides and training packets into binders
- Organize out-of-town travel (including booking plane tickets, hotel rooms, and handling traveler reimbursements)
- Assist with social media marketing
- Maintain good relationships with local contractors and vendors
- Perform light office cleaning and maintenance
- Oversee two apartments used for training purposes
- Order and pick up parts and tools for training
- Assist with grant administration (intake processing, data collection and reporting, resource organization, record retention, etc).
This position is funded 50% by the “CSJQ Tier 2 Implementation Project, a grant awarded to Alaska Metal and Mechanical Apprenticeship under the Critical Sectors Job Quality grant, as implemented by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration. 50% of the Office Assistants’ working hours will support additional grant administration needs (outlined under “duties” above).
Wages, Benefits & Hours
$24.00/hour during 90-day probation period.
$26.00/hour plus benefits after 90-day probationary period. Benefits will require membership through UFCW local Union 1496.
5 hours per day, 5 days per week (total 25 hours). Hours are flexible between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
